Broken Lightening

By

Long the day stretched
Lightening flashed
I reached up
Grabbed it
With my hands and broke it
Gathered the dried
Joshua trees
For the kindling
Of the great fire

Copper the tears
Into my mouth
My Secret Keeper
Has left me

Alone

The tumbleweeds
Roll across the flats
Somewhere else the
Juniper is dropping
Her berries
Silent

Sky, are you there still?

Dust sand marks
Points my
Demise
Death comes now
Disfiguring
My dream somehow
That beautiful past
Charm
Shake
And bump off
The path
Walking to the nowhere
Rattle in the
Dry
Leave me
Heaving
Gasp for air
Heat lightening
Silent
As the sidewinders
Shows me the tomorrow
In black of midnight
