Cutter

The warm cool suck
Of our rum and hibiscus mouths
Hair bleached red-roped
With the storm beaten sea
Ragged as the shaken palm fruit
We have fallen

Are dreadfully intertwined
My triple eyed twin
Under the low slant burn
Orange of summer
Bas nectar sweetly
Vibrates the earth

The dogs and jackals run in packs again
How loyal we are
In our history and sorrows
Like blue black on wounds
Petal soft we awaken
I have not left you side

The sea is standing
Knowing her depth
And has stories to tell

We now pass on the beads and trinkets
Having no use for charms
And stand naked in this

You are most beautiful
My shake of the calabash
My long way home
